Start of the Mid-Season

The Mid Season started with Zest... we have seen several new rowers learning and absorbing the information being conveyed by the Captain on the boat, it was heartening to see them trying and rowing their best in the boat.

We hope to see more people joining Friends United in this sport if you are passionate about rowing, we welcome all who are willing to learn and row their best with us. We believe Together In Victory :)

Quote:
"Dragonboating isn't just about 'row row row the boat rowing down the sea.' it's more about whole body workout, making your muscles work for u, your lungs your heart your muscle tissues etc, moving the whole boat forward. when it comes to training, we put in our whole heart soul spirit into it, making the most out of everything to match the motto 'when it comes to training, we train damn hell hard for it, if not better don't train'. we train for the price we pay, we train for the medal we want, we want to win ourself not others, that's why we train."
Chia Hui, Rower Friends United DB Team

My comments and opinions on the SDBF last saturday

Being a dragonboat rower is certainly ain't easy, we literally has to row our guts out.

I am a noob and a new member of Friends United Dragonboat Team. I am certainly very honoured to be out rowing for Boat B at the Singapore Dragonboat Festival 2011. Though my boat did not qualify for the semi-finals, but the experience and synergy I gained from being on the boat to race is certainly a priceless gift I got from the race as a souvenir. The thought of letting the boat beside us surpass us and qualify for the semi-finals is certainly gonna stay in my heart forever. This can only means that we have to train harder to surpass other teams in our next race!

Friend United Dragonboat Team and the race Boat A really inspired me and gave me a sense of belonging to the team. The team is full of nice individuals who rowed their best in the race, it's been a long time since I cheered so hard and be excited for competitions like SDBF. The last time I felt soooo excited was when I was in Jurong Secondary School when my school's basketball team got into finals and were competing with Raffles if I am not mistaken.

I felt it, I felt the sense of belonging, I felt that I wanted to be part of the team, I felt that I want to win as a team even if I am not out there rowing. Maybe this is what I called genuinely out there to give moral support, it really inspired me to work harder for the team and makes sure the next race, I am out there rowing for the finals and not as spectators.

It donned on me that it's the sense of belonging, team spirit and synergy that the whole team must have in order to soar great heights. And at this moment, I felt all these three factors and that's what keep me in the team.

Railway Trekking, enjoy the final moments and photo opportunities!

16 July 2011 (Saturday) Join us in this meaningful expedition..

Kayakers: morning Kayak is 10:30 - 12:30. if you are also going for the trek, we can either hang around or you can go ahead to put your stuff and then meet at ABC food center.

1) Meet at ABC Brickworks food centre at 3pm.
Blk 6 Jalan Bukit Merah S(150006)
(behind Ikea).

2) Start track at 3:30pm enter at Jalan Kilang.
I think drivers can park at Jalan Kilang.

3) Trek to Bt Timah Station

4) Exit Bt Timah Road (near junction with Clementi Rd and Jln Bukit Anak).

5) Go Bt Timah Plaza for food and chill out.

Total distance should be less than 5KM. If we set off punctually, there should still be light when we finish with lots of opportunity for photo taking along the way.

Drivers: if there are a few drivers, I suggest you make arrangements to park at Bt Timah plaza area, then take 1 car to Jalan Kilang. After the trek, one of the driver drive to Jln Kilang to pick up the other car.

Weekends were simply Awesome... all of us are WINNERS!

First and foremost, Congratulations for Friends United Dragonboat Team A for clinching the 2nd Plate in the Singapore Dragonboat Festival 2011, just .32 seconds from clinching the 1st place from the NAGA team. Oh wells, we have to work harder next race then. Our rowers had rowed hard and gave their best in the races. Special mention of TEAM B... though we fall short of getting into the semi-finals by 4 secs, we did row our best, we just have to try harder next year :).

Not forgetting a few of our girls who joined the race on Sunday !!! Pat Pat Good Job Girls!!!

Ciaoz
