Team AGM and New Ex-Committee

The AGM was held in a small cozy bar at Boon Tat. Most of the team members turned up for this joyous occasion to mark the end of this season.

Delicious food and drinks were served and little chats were happening around every corners of the bar. It was a warm gathering to see the whole team gathered together to elect and welcome the new Ex-Co inboard and to bid farewell to the previous Ex-Committee members.

One of our senior members announced his retirement over the AGM as he stated that he is hitting the age of 40 and it's time for him to spend more of his time in leisure and recreation. We thanked him for his endless contribution over all these years for the team and wishes him all the best for his future endeavors.

Hence, the New Ex-Committee members were elected.

Team Captain: Mr Alan Tan
Vice-Captain/ Team Manager: Ms Sharen Png (standing for her 2nd year)
Treasurer: Mr Keith Tan

We thanked the previous ex-committee members for their efforts and time spent on the team and all the best

Former Captain: Dr Ivan Choong
Former Treasuer: Mr Lai Nam Kin

Not forgetting the relentless efforts and time of our Coach LE LE for coaching us this season, let's look forward to her teachings again next season!

Thank you!!!

Hope the team will give our utmost support and encouragement to the new Ex-Committee and together in victory for Friends United in 2012.

Thanks,
J^Lim

The race season ended with a good note

Over the weekends, Friends United participated in various categories in the annual Singapore River Regatta 2011. The competition this year was tight, with only the team securing the first position in the heats can go straight into the semi finals. The rest with the fastest timing proceed to the repecharge, with only the best 3 teams go into the finals. The race course was also shortened to 200 metres.

Friends United did hit a couple of ups and downs, I believed that all members who had raced in SRR this year carried home with them the valuable experiences and lessons learnt. Though the team did not secure any medals this time round, we can always make a comeback next year.

Let's take this time to think through what we have erred during the race, and make sure we do not do the same wrongs in our future races. Whereas the 'good' that we have put into the race, make sure we put them in again in our future races.

For those who thinks that in technically, psychologically and physically aspects, you are lagging behind others, make sure you improve on them and do better the next time round.

Saying is easier than doing, put your heart and soul into this sports if you like dragonboating!

Cheers for a better 2012 and Cheers for Friends United in the upcoming season.
